About
CareerScope counsellors and coaches are fully qualified in areas of psychology and career counselling, and are registered with the Career Development Association of Australia. Career counselling and coaching is a collaboration between the individual and the counsellor. We believe individuals have the personal resources to make career decisions, and the role of the CareerScope counsellors and coaches is to help identify your strengths and resources, and ask the right questions to help clarify options, review the options, and make a plan regarding where to go from here (e.g. goal setting and career planning).
Just as no two individuals are alike, no two careers are the same.
Our Team
Samantha (Sam) Hilty
Psychologist
Principal Career Counsellor & Career Coach
Having completed her own career transition from marketing to psychology in 2000, Sam has experience in career coaching and counselling, personal branding and marketing, vocational assessment, and recruitment. Sam has worked with a large multi-national firm in outplacement, performance management, and assisting people through the challenging and exciting time of changing jobs or developing career directions. Sam's knowledge, skills and experience in career counselling are recognised by the Career Development Association of Australia (formally Australian Association of Career Counsellors). With a commitment to staying abreast of developments in the current job market and continuously improving her skills, she is completing further studies in counselling at university. Sam is passionate about working with individuals in their career development journey to ensure they are doing something that meets their values and needs. As a participant in the QUT Career Mentor Scheme, Sam enjoys providing support, advice & networking assistance to final-year students.
As a mother of two, Sam understands the delicate balancing act with family and career. As a registered psychologist Sam can incorporate psychometric assessment tools in the career counselling and coaching process. Although, Sam's philosophy is that while vocational assessments have a role to play in the career planning and coaching, however they are neither suitable for everyone nor every situation.
